With the plant module of GAMMA-RAY it is possible to produce real 3D plants without having to design them effortfully. Instead, the objects are defined by mathematical formulas. The renderer evaluates these formulas at the running time. The advantage of this method is that it uses extremely small hard disk memory for storing the plants. The need of main memory is not as large as in the case of conventional constructions. In addition, you can change the plants in their appearance, let them grow, manipulate directions of the branches, and so on. Or you can design your own plants.
